Every once in a while a show comes along that captures the hearts and imaginations of it’s viewers. Firefly was one such show, even though it only lasted one season. There’s also not many shows that end up having a major motion picture produced, after being cancelled either, but two years later, along came Serenity.
The talented folk over at Quantum Mechanix have a lot of Firefly and Serenity merchandise for us ‘Browncoats’ that can’t get enough of this amazing show. Their latest piece is a 1:250 scale cutaway replica of the Serenity.
Firefly creator Joss Whedon once described the titular ship as the 10th character of the sci-fi TV series. The Firefly-class ship Serenity is much more than mere transportation to her crew: She is home, a refuge and a darned fine getaway vehicle.
The replica was created using the original 3D effects files from the TV show, ensuring maximum accuracy for its scale. At over 12 inches long, it’s more than 50 percent larger than their best-selling Little Damn Heroes Serenity maquette.
Not only do you get an amazing looking replica of this gorgeous Firefly class ship, but the upper hull section separates from the model. Attach to the lower half using magnets, once lifted, you can view the cockpit, main corridor and galley, completely furnished with chairs, consoles, rugs and storage lockers.
The Serenity Cutaway Replica is made of polystone resin and is comprised of more than 200 hand-painted parts. It also includes a premium display stand, ensuring this magnificent replica can stand proudly among your other collectibles.
Expected to ship by the end of Q2 2014, the Serenity Cutaway Replica is being offered in a numbered, limited edition of 2,000 for just US$349.95. Head on over to the Quantum Mechanix website to put you name on the waiting-list to be among the first to preorder this gorgeous piece.
Ship like this, be with you ’til the day you die.
