Some big news from Marvel today. Two-time Academy Award-winning actor Michael Douglas is set to star as Hank Pym in the upcoming Ant-Man movie. Michael will be joined by Paul Rudd, who was signed on last month to star as Scott Lang.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige had this to say;
With Hank Pym’s rich history in the Marvel Universe, we knew we needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves. We felt incredibly relieved when Michael Douglas agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits, and couldn’t be more excited to see what he will do to bring Hank Pym to life.
The legendary actor, who earned a Best Actor in a Leading Role Academy Award for his portrayal of Gordon Gecko in “Wall Street” has also just recently picked up a Golden Globe for his role as legendary entertainer Liberace in “Behind the Candelabra”.
Directed by Edgar Wright, Ant-Man will launch Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is set to hit our screens on July 31, 2015.
Biochemist Dr. Hank Pym uses his latest discovery, a group of subatomic particles, to create a size-altering formula. Though his first self-test goes awry, he develops an instrument that helps him communicate with and control insects.
